So you have decided you would like to try Reformer Pilates in Norfolk, but not sure whether you need to start with a group session or individual? At The Mvement Studio in Norwich, we know that everyone comes to Pilates with different goals, preferences, and budgets. That’s why we offer both group and private reformer sessions—because one size definitely doesn’t fit all. So, how do you decide which is right for you? Let’s break it down.
Group Reformer: Energy, Community & Cost-Effective Fun

If you thrive on energy, love a bit of social motivation, and enjoy a dynamic class setting, group reformer Pilates is your jam. Here’s why:
Community Vibes: There’s something special about moving in sync with others. You’ll feed off the group energy, share a few laughs, and maybe even make some Pilates-loving friends along the way.
Budget-Friendly: Group sessions cost less than privates, making them a great way to get regular reformer workouts without stretching your wallet.
Guidance Without Pressure: Your instructor will be there to cue and correct, but you won’t be under the microscope the whole time. Perfect if you like a bit of direction but prefer to move at the same pace as the class.
That said, group classes might not be for everyone, especially if you’re working with an injury, returning to exercise after a break, or just want more focused attention.
Private Reformer: Personalised, Targeted & Just for You

Sometimes, you need a little extra TLC. Private sessions give you one-on-one time with an instructor who tailors every movement to your body and goals. Ideal for:
Beginners & Returners: If you’re new to Pilates (or getting back into movement), privates let you build confidence, technique, and strength at your own pace.
Deep Dive into Your Practice: Want to refine your form, work on specific goals, or just geek out over the details? Privates allow for that extra layer of understanding and precision.
Rehab & Special Conditions: If you have injuries or specific physical needs, a private session ensures exercises are adapted just for you, keeping you safe while still making progress.
So… Which One is For You?
If you love a buzzing atmosphere, group classes are fantastic. With only six people in a class there is still plenty of 1-1 attention and individualised programming, but If you prefer a more tailored approach (or need specific modifications), privates are the way to go. And honestly? You don’t have to choose one or the other—you can mix both, depending on your needs.
At The Mvement Studio, we offer both because we know that life, schedules, and budgets vary. Some weeks you might crave the social energy of a group class, and other times you might need a focused private session to work on something specific. All Level 1 classes are suitable for beginners so if you feel confident in jumping into class, there are Level 1 classes available daily.
Either way, we’ve got you. Whether it’s in a lively group or a focused one-on-one, we’ll help you get stronger, more mobile, and more in tune with your body. Got questions? Let’s chat and find the best fit for you!
